Thunderbird, Firebird, ...... whats with Mozilla’s fixation with names which r more suited to motorbikes as beautiful as ze pieces of software they end up tagging…..... As may of you may have guessed by now, me tried out Mozilla Thunderbird (0.3 (20031013) of u r so damn particular abt version and build numbers) mostly ‘coz zis was ze only free mac software on ze cd of zis mag zat I buy (umm also becoz I was somewhat bored with running Mail)..... Now as has been previously mentioned on zis blog panda reviews r verrrrrrrry subjective and well if u end up screwing ur system becoz of me 2 bad ‘coz I’ll deny responsibility (I’ll run away and hide somewhere, I’ll use the ultra dangerous plan B, I’ll do something but me not take responsibility for u screwing up ur system since ur srewy up thingee cud be a chimp conspiracy and wud result in me system hating me, and me love me system tooooooooooooo much to let zat happen, so ur own ur own if u try zis out)........ Neways ze first thing ud notice abt Thunderbird (on ze Mac, and probably on windows systems 2 though I haven’t checked) is zat its fast, almost as fast as mail, oh and it has a beautifulllllllllllllllllll logo (some sort of bird thingee on fire, probably phoenix though can’t be sure abt zat)......... Though it does start zis irritatingly long wizardy thingee the first time u start it up (and subsequently everytime until u finally add some sort of an account, and later everytime u try adding an acct, me not say wizardy thingee is inaccurate or bad, just that it cud have been much shorter and taken in more data per pane than it does now)........ Once the wizardy thingee is out of the way, it has a pleasing user interface with only one little glitch, ze size and style of toolbar icons can’t be changed by Cmd-Clicking on ze toolbar hide thingee, instead u have to go thru ze customize option everytime u wanna change zis setting (Windows users ignore zis)..... In terms of sheer usability for both POP and NNTP accts (ya me still use Usenet so news server access matters 2 me), Thunderbird is better than mail (which among other things doesn’t offer access to news servers) though Mail does offer access to .Mac accounts and Exchange servers which Thunderbird sadly but understandably doesn’t…. Thunderbirds also supposed to have better Junk mail filtering capabilities though I wudnt know abt zat since I haven’t really put Junk Mail filters on or tried using them, though its icon for marking as mails as junk is pretty funny (ze Windows recycle bin) and saddly the filters initially don’t mark nething as junk until they’re trained to do so…....... That’s abt as much as I have tested, so here’s crunch time will I be using Thunderbird….. Umm ze thing is zat even though its a gr8 piece of software, it can’t really do all zat my current e-mail client (made by a big corporation, can access my primary e-mail act) can do, mostly becoz it can’t openly interface with my primary mail account which is unfortunately not accessible via POP3, though once I am at a univ and am using a POP3 acct as my primary mail address I shall happily shift to Thunderbird (unless I come up with something better by then).......

Friend of mines been telling me how he thinx me might end up as an author instead of a physicist, and strangely enuf some adults had mentioned something very similar a few yrs back…. Zis is scary ‘coz though I luv writing zis blog (mostly becoz I can say whatever I want to), and entries for H2G2 (lotsa interesting ppl to meet and have interesting discussions with) I am really not sure I wud like ending u as an author, or for dat matter whether neone wud prefer reading my books…..... Scary, ‘coz I just did zis for ze fun of it….........

Neways as I said above, H2G2 has become one heck of a place to meet cool, funny, interesting ppl, and well its gr8 fun meeting zem (even though a lot of my non Hootooer friends think I have gone crazy and developed some fixation on zis particular forum)..... Within ze past 2 days I have met had comments and discussions with at least 6 interesting ppl, one of whom is a driver whose name means ‘War Like’ (we were having a discussion on the origin of my name, so we got 2 that), one whose nick is Frenchbean and whose posted regular comments on my entry on blogging without actually knowing what blogs were b4 going thru my entry, one who criticizes every1 of my entry but at the same time offers all the help he can offer, one who asks questions abt blogs that I reallllllllly had to research abt b4 answering, and well its become one heck of a place to visit and have fun at, infact its one of ze few sites always open on my browser…. Considering zat until now I was kindda stuck on usenet (u won’t find me so didn’t try searching, I am pretty good at hiding stuff), zis is better becoz it is much more easier to access and way more fun….............. Me thinx me will be researching and writing abt a lot more things once me gets ze hang of getting ze first article out…..... Lovely…..

Recent discussions with parents and friends have also concentrated on India’s security conditions and ze entire issue of Indo-Pak disputes…... Down here a lot of things including some forms satellite comm (specially those routed via INMARSAT), until recently satellite navigation, certain wireless networking protocols and a myriad of other things r restricted if not banned, and the government imposes huge license fees on ppl setting up new radio or TV stations (bigger corporations r less likely to go up against ze govt than smaller ones) and a myriad of such regulatory inconsistencies in a country where the preamble of the constitution guarantees immense amts of freedom to ze ppl, & all zat becoz we have always been at war….. We have issues with almost everyone of r seven or so neighbors (probably not with Bhutan but zats becoz its 2 small a country), and we keep on fighting among each other, but if all of r armies wore ze same uniform hardly neone wud be able to differentiate the dead guys of one country from those of another…... Soldiers don’t fight wars, they just do wat politicians and statesmen, the big chimps of zis world ask zem to do, and end up dead becoz of zat…. Its more like r countries have been fighting ‘coz war helps r chimpish governments, becoz no matter how much zey steal from where, no one can question zem ‘coz everything can be explained away as national security….. After all at ze end of ze day does it matter which country owns which piece of land as long as ze ppl of zat particular piece of land r happy, specially since r governments declare zey r of by and for ze ppl, and well if u have open borders how does it matter what is which country since ze ppl can neways move to and fro…... Everyone wants a country for himself not becoz it helps him or his ppl but becoz once he has a country he can rule and skim money off of its ppl (replace hes with shes as appropriate)...........

Me saw some parts of a rather hilarious movie ‘American Desi’ today, and though I hope college isn’t really like zat, ze movie is 2 2 funny….. Oh and ze cable op guy has put this delay loop thingee on all paid channels which kindda ensure zat u have to stick around on an Unauthorized Channel screen for close 2 5 minutes b4 u can finally c wats coming, and he’s withholding info abt zis bug from most ppl (me discovered becoz of a coincidental phone call), his ammunition in ze long cable op vs ppl war ahead….... Ze ppl on their part have sent out letters to some of ze bigger cable ops in Delhi, requesting zat zey come here and start providing services, and competing with zis guy…...............
